just got REALLY EXCITED about the Copenhagen Wheel
Last night I had a dream that I was in my Contemporary Issues in Literature class that I took for undergrad but I was a grad student, and Steve Roggenbuck sat in the row in front of me and he turned around and said “hey, I remember you from the internet!” And I was like, “wow, I know you from the internet too!” We talked about the books we were reading in the class and then time was up so I was suddenly running up the stairs in my high school even though I was in grad school
and I’m screaming and shouting up the stairs to a friend who I met in college. ”ELEANORRRRR, ELEANORRRRR, ELLE, HEY, YOU REALLY NEED TO EMBRACE THE YOLO LIFESTYLE. EMBRACE THE YOLO LIFESTYLE ELEANORRR.” And out of nowhere Steve pops his head around the corner of the landing and over my shoulder and says to her in the gentlest fucking voice, “Eleanor, please…you really should consider bringing YOLO into your life. You’ve got to share your life with YOLO.”
We were all gone and I realized that I missed the sunrise.
"I lost respect when I learned of Gandhi’s body hatred and even more that he refused to have sex with his wife for the last thirty-eight years of their marriage (in fact he felt that people should have sex only three or four times in their lives) I lost even more [respect] when I found out that in order to test his commitment to celibacy, he had beautiful young women lie next to him naked through the night: evidently his wife - whom he described as looking like a ‘meek cow’ - was no longer desirable enough [to] be a solid test"
Yeah, Gandhi was an unbelievably selfish individual. My biggest reason for losing respect for him, though, was that he criticized the Jews for defending themselves against the Holocaust — he insisted that they should have committed public mass suicide in order to “shame” the Germans instead of fighting back.
…. In order to shame the Germans? WTF? The Germans wouldn’t’ve been shamed - they’d’ve been thrilled to get their way so easily!
Gandhi’s exact words were: “But the Jews should have offered themselves to the butcher’s knife. They should have thrown themselves into the sea from cliffs. As it is, they succumbed anyway in their millions.” He also wrote an open letter to the British people in 1940 telling them to surrender to the Axis even if it meant accepting genocide:
“I would like you to lay down the arms you have as being useless for saving you or humanity. You will invite Herr Hitler and Signor Mussolini to take what they want of the countries you call your possessions. Let them take possession of your beautiful island, with your many beautiful buildings. You will give all these but neither your souls, nor your minds. If these gentlemen choose to occupy your homes, you will vacate them. If they do not give you free passage out, you will allow yourself, man, woman and child, to be slaughtered, but you will refuse to owe allegiance to them.”
he was also anti-black (lost all respect for him after reading how he treated sub-saharan africans).
read this. everyone needs to know gandhi’s “true colors”.
Ghandi was a pedophile, to boot.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MY ENTIRE LIFE THANK YOU
I CANNOT FUCKING STAND THE WAY HE IS PORTRAYED
HE WAS AN ABUSER WHO HIT HIS WIFE AND HIS DAUGHTERS ALSO
He also refused his wife medication that would have saved her life [for religious reasons], but when he himself was in a similar position decided that it was okay to make an exception.
He was extremely misogynist, in fact he undermined any progress that might have been made in women’s rights in India. He was also racist against Black people in South Africa. He was deeply hypocritical in many ways.
I never knew any of this.. something to look into, I suppose. Very dissapointing.
One of my students used to have huge problems with authority and she would end up in trouble a lot. She had a huge attitude and when she was mean to another student once, I asked if she spoke to her mother that way. ”Yes,” she replied.
After seeing how her family treats her no differently if she’s doing well or doing terribly, I was scared that she’d be stuck in this rut forever. She treats other students (and even teachers) with much more kindness, and she’s better at following classroom rules than ever before. She did so well last week that she got a trophy at our “High-Five Friday” activity - a weekly ceremony honoring students and groups who are awesome during afterschool.
She tried to show her grandpa when he picked her up, but he just told her to put on her coat.
Today, her table was the first to clean up and show that they were ready to go to the next activity. They all got stickers for finishing their homework, so I said, “You’re all doing an excellent job! I’m so proud of this table!”
She jumped out of her seat and hugged me.
When her mother was signing out today, I told her that she did a great job. She even tugged on her mom’s coat and whispered excitedly, “mami, I did great today.”
Her mother stayed silent. They left.
So I just broke into my old NaNoWriMo work from last year and it was supposed to be more like a diary than a novel, but it’s SO GOOD
I can’t believe half of this shit was even real at all, let alone any of it, it’s literally unreal, I am laughing which is horrible because i cried the whole time I wrote last year.
